Thankful for Creation Roles

Join Thankful for… Blog Party Contributor Markie as she discusses creation roles and how they empower you to truly live your best life!

Have you ever heard the phrase “Creation Roles”? Do you know what it means? A creation role is a role that God (YHVH) created you for.

I am so thankful for my creation role. You see most people take on what the world says they were created for. They think they are “doing it” or as they say now “living their best life”.

They could not be more wrong.

The Role of a Man

You see God (YHVH) created man and women differently and we have different roles. He made it very simple in the beginning.

He also said it was not good for man to be alone, so He created him a helpmeet. (Gen. 2:18)

He then went on and said a man should leave his mother and father and cleave unto his wife and they should become one. (Gen 2:24)
That sounds simple, right? As a woman, we should help our husband right?

Well, for some reason people have mixed up the Word and they seem to think that it means they have to raise their husband or their “man.” When the Bible said they will become ONE, that meant marriage.

Becoming a helpmeet means that as your husband’s wife, you will help him. Helping him is not taking charge of him or trying to lead him.

I love how clear the Bible is! It says that the head of every man is Jesus (Messiah), the head of the woman is the man, and the head of Jesus (Messiah) is God (YHVH). (1Corinthians 11:3)

You see, the husband is supposed to lead, not us. Providing and protecting his family falls under that role of leadership also.

The Role of a Woman

So, what is the role of a woman?

As a woman our job is to:

  • submit to our husband (Ephesians 5:22, 1 Timothy 2:12)
  • take care of our children and our homes (Proverbs 31)
  • love and nurture them (Proverbs 31)
  • teach the younger women to do the same (Titus 2:3-5)

I am thankful for my creation role as a woman because operating in it pleases God (YHVH). It makes life easier.

As a woman, we do not have to carry the weight of the world. We, for many reasons, feel like we have to do it all. We feel like we should not depend on a man.

We feel like we have to assume the role of both man and woman, like we have to be heard, and like the world should revolve around us! I am saying “we” because I was once that woman too.

Operating in Your Role

I am here to tell you that life is better now that I have started operating in the role God (YHVH) created for me. I can sleep well at night knowing that I am pleasing God (YHVH) by pleasing my husband, caring for my children, and taking care of my home.

This may seem ole’ fashion to some people and I know a lot of people won’t agree with it, but I just want to do things God’s way! I am thankful that I get to be creative in this role and cater it to fit my home.

We are all created differently so my husband may not like and want the same things your husband likes or wants. In hindsight, make sure you are pleasing your own husband!  (1Peter 3:1)

It brings me joy when I know my husband and children are happy. Putting their needs before my own leaves no room for complaining or selfish ambitions.

I don’t have time to think about me when I am busy helping him and loving and teaching them. It amazes me how my needs are always met through it all!

So for that, I am thankful!

  1. I support and encourage my husband, sharing knowledge with him and yes, at times, lead. I’m discouraged though, by your use of the phrase “as women, we do not have to carry the weight of the world.” It implies it’s up to the man to do that, when Jesus already carried it, and still carries it for all of us–not just women.

    1. I understand Colleen! It’s all about context, though. Biblically speaking, women were not created to “carry the weight of the world” as the WORLD sees it. Biblically (and spiritually) speaking, we know there are times that it may be necessary to take on more and do more. Yes, Jesus carried it all but there is still some “doing” to this life… not simply living as though there is nothing for us to do, handle, go through, etc. Men do have a greater role than women… starting with Adam. 😀 Thanks so much for your perspective!
