“Being a mother is learning about the strengths you didn’t know you had… and dealing with fears you didn’t know existed.”– Linda Wooten
Motherhood is one of the most rewarding journeys a woman can experience. At the same time it can be one of the scariest, especially when you’re looking for support in navigating the many ups and downs.
You’ll always be able to find people that agree with your mothering choices, and those who condone whatever choices you make. The key is to be confident in your unique motherhood journey.
“The only thing I liked about have a homebirth was… everything.”– Unknown
Things can especially seem lonely when choosing to birth your child at home. Although I come from a line of homebirthing women, it was still frowned upon that I wanted to birth my children at home – especially after having a hospital birth (that ended in an emergency c-section).
I remember all too well the nervousness in finding information, resources, and support. To say I was overwhelmed is an understatement. I also didn’t realize that I had birth-related PTSD, something that I had to deal with while carrying what would be my first homebirthed baby.
I’ll share more about my overall experiences being a three-time homebirthing mom with two unassisted deliveries and one completely unassisted pregnancy, but for now you can read Our Journey to Homebirthing.
