Every Recipe Can’t Be Trusted!

I didn’t always like to cook. Nope. That was my sister. She was always in the kitchen with mom, taking in all the recipe secrets. I was always the furthest away from the kitchen… and now, I’m paying for it (to say the least).

Since taking the role of Master Chef in our home (after becoming a wife and mother), I have generated a pretty nice stack of cookbooks, and have managed to pin 100+ recipes to my “Yummy to My Tummy” Pinterest board.

Here’s the kicker… every recipe can’t be trusted!

I know. It’s a shocker, huh?

To say the least, there are recipes that I’ve tried and they just didn’t turn out good. It couldn’t have been the ingredients or the measurements… or could it? I usually do a very good job of going strictly by the recipe, leaving no room for mistakes… and wouldn’t ya  know… some recipes just don’t want to cooperate! 🙂

This isn’t the case most of the time. And it’s the few recipes that I’ve made lately that I actually do want to talk about and share with you. Here are some of my favorite, tried-and-true, mom made, family approved recipes (all of which can be found on my Yummy to My Tummy Pinterest board):

4 Different Ways to Make Quesadillas
In this one-minute and fifty-eight second video, Tasty shows you how to make four different kinds of quesadilla, all of which will have you running to the grocery store. I made the spinach (but used kale) and mushroom quesadillas, and we LOVED them. The next three will definitely be made within the next week. 🙂

Simply Healthy Chicken Pot Pit from Scratch
I’m all for SIMPLE and HEALTHY, and this recipe is all of that and some. Plus, it doesn’t call for tons of ingredients that end up costing the equivalent to a high-end restaurant! I do recommend doubling the measurements for larger families, especially if you’re like me and want leftovers. 😉

One Pot Cabbage Casserole
I wasn’t sure about this one at first because I liked all of the ingredients individually… just maybe not together. Well, this was another hit that didn’t made it to the leftover tupperware. Super simple, and delicious! 😀

Give me veggies and give me cheese, and we’ve got a date! This Kraft recipe is super tasty and worth every bit of the wait. The fact that it only has 6 ingredients is a guaranteed winner for this busy mom of 4! :O

The Best Easy Broccoli Stir Fry
Aaaaannnd, this is one of those recipes that I did not make enough of. My husband gently let me know that next, we need more… a lot more. LOL So needless to say, this really is “the best” broccoli stir fry recipe that I have come across, made, and loved!

These are just a few recipes that I have tried and loved. You can find more on my Pinterest board, Yummy to My Tummy!

  1. Of course we can’t trust any recipe we see on internet or read in cookbooks but we can take that recipe, make some changes and make it work for us! I do that all the time!

  2. When it comes to me, NO recipe can be trusted! I’m good at following directions up to a certain point and then I just begin to add bells & whistles and it turns into something else… Might give the cabbage casserole a try when the husband’s away though. I LOVE cabbage but the after effects? Not too much! 😀

    1. Awesome!! That’s the place I’m trying to get to! I want to be able to add this, take away that and still walk away with a good tasting dish! Let me know what you think about the cabbage dish. XO
