Spring Into Healthy Living with a DIY Essential Oil Facial Moisturizer

With wedding season and spring and summer festivities coming up, now is the perfect time for a healthy facial moisturizer. After the harsh winter, I decided to find a fabulous facial moisturizer using essential oils. Hydrated and glowing skin is something every girl wants! And even better yet, this recipe is super quick and easy.

I have really sensitive skin and a lot of skin allergies, so finding a facial moisturizer has been quite difficult. In the past few years, I have been experimenting with essential oils to make my own personal care products. This way, I can steer clean of store bought products with chemicals.

Why Essential Oils

So, you might be thinking, who wants to put OIL on their skin? That is a fair question, especially if you are someone with naturally oily skin. However, oil is good for your skin and essential oils can help cut down on the excess of oils your skin is producing.

One way is finding the right carrier oil for your skin type. The two most popular are Argan Oil & Jojoba Oil. However, you can use rose hip, avocado oil, macadamia nut, apricot kernel, sesame, sweet almond, and hemp seed oil too.

You can see, I chose Sweet Almond Oil, for it’s natural sun protectant properties. Gotta get ready for the warm weather, y’all.

Tip before you get to mixing: I suggest trying one out to see if it works well with your skin type before mixing together an entire batch of facial moisturizer.

Essential oils are a wonderful, chemical-free way of hydrating your skin. They also improve the health of your skin. Recommended skin care essential oils have vitamins and nutrients that will help rebuild damaged and aging skin. Some essential oils are even antifungal and antibacterial.

So, what does this mean?

You will have less troubles with acne and blemishes! The best part of that news is that you don’t have to use acne medications, with chemicals, to see clearer skin.

Which Essential Oils Should I Use?

You will notice the recipe has different categories of oils you should use. Each essential oil has different uses and properties. Some are great for natural sun protection, while others are great for helping with aging and your skin’s elasticity. Hello, timeless beauty!

There are a lot of essential oils out there and it can be hard to remember what each essential oil is best for. So I created a Free Printable List of the Uses of Essential Oils for you to refer to.

If you also have sensitive skin and are worried about developing an allergy, fear not! Essential oils are powerful and can irritate the skin; however, the carrier oils will help to protect your skin.

Essential oils do not contain protein, which is what people are allergic to in food/products. If you notice you do have an irritation, try to pinpoint which oil is causing the irritation and either minimize it or swap it out for another!
