Although spring brings warmer weather, I’ve rounded up some of the Best Virtual Spring Field Trips for Homeschoolers when you don’t want to get out. Similar to my fall and winter roundups, the videos below can be used alongside any curriculum or as stand-alone lessons. Enjoy!
Best Virtual Spring Field Trips for Homeschoolers
I always recommend a journaling activity with our virtual field trips. Younger students can draw what they learned and verbally talk about their favorite parts of a trip. Older students can write full journal entries, reports, and/or draw pictures as well.
Yellow Stone National Park
It was the world’s first national park and is one of America’s most famous thanks to the Old Faithful Geyser and Grand Prismatic Spring. Come to Yellowstone to see grizzly and black bears, thousands of wild bison, packs of wolves, giant waterfalls and the largest concentration of active geysers on Earth.
Marineland Dolphin Adventure
We’re bringing Marineland Dolphin Adventure to you! Enjoy this virtual field trip – it’s fun for the whole family!
Front Street Animal Shelter
A virtual field trip to our animal shelter for kids and grown ups! See behind the scenes of an animal shelter to find out how we save the lives of adorable animals in need. To help our animals and shelter get through these difficult times, we’d greatly appreciate a donation at HelpFrontStreet.com
Radium Springs
Our Aquatic Biology Lab’s virtual field trip to Radium Springs, the largest spring of the lower Flint River. We will explore its history, discover the underwater biota, and discuss the challenges of water scarcity that affect the spring.
The Rainforest
Join Miss Penny and the KidVision Pre-K Kids for a walk in the rainforest at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden! They explore leaves and trees, learn about the layers of a rainforest and the animals living there, and dig for decomposers in the forest floor. Get your hands dirty and learn why the rainforest needs our help!
Animal Farm
This Little Farm is full of sweet farm animals! Come with Miss Penny and the KidVision Pre-K Kids as they collect eggs, measure a pony, and milk a goat. You will hear the sounds all your favorite farm animals make! It will inspire your class to sing …“Old MacDonald had a farm……”
Our Trip on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway
While staying in North Georgia, we hopped over to Blue Ridge to take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. We had a great time! The train ride to the layover was an hour, then we had 2 hours to explore the towns, before making the 1 hour trip back. It can get loud at times with the squeaking of the wheels but the weather was perfect. We recommend checking this out with your family!
